How are you doing, Angela? What was your quit date and how are you doing? I think it's important that we help each other through this. :) I'm here if you need someone to talk to. Take gentle care.

I've been told more than once to stop. Docs, family, girlfriends, but I got a real challenge when the ER said COPD. Guess it's time to quit dying daily. sucks tho. Something in me wants a scapegoat. If I go no smokes, what do I have other than myself? Wow, time to wake up for real. I do make good coffee.......no butts about it.

I went from more than a pack a day to 3 or four in a day, or a pack a week. I'm not killin myself to quit. If it's killin me to smoke, I won't kill myself quitting. Just a long term goal, that I will see soon.

Hope everyone is feeling better.

Just got here and want to know others like me, and share. The doctors told me again. It's not time for me to start dying. I have not yet started to live.

Angela,

Everyone on this earth has strongholds and addictions in their life.  If anyone tells you different then they are not being honest with you!  What we cannot accomplish in our own strength can be accomplished in God's.  Give your addiction to Him! He can help you like no one else can!

Romans 16:20 - The God who gives peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

Psalm 31:24  - 24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.

Yes, you have to want to quit. Not others telling you to quit. When you are ready, you will know it. Good luck.

Angela,

I found that there are many ways to quit smoking. One that works for me is that whenever the urge to light up strikes me, I drink a cup of hot water. According to my boyfriend's great uncle who's Chinese, hot water has a way of balancing your ying/yang energy. I don't know about that but it keeps the craving away for another half hour or so. If not, there's always sugar-free gum. We have just keep trying and eventually, we'll have our desired results. Good luck!

I've listened to all of the stories and the nightmares about the cravings and shakes. My quit date is Oct. 12, 2007.  I am excited but a little afraid. I would like to know if anyone can give me advice on what to do while watching tv? This is when I smoke the most. Help!
